As of August 2026, Goyard’s own store locator still lists 20 East 63rd Street as the operating New York boutique. Recent Madison Avenue retail reports continue to identify 699 Madison Avenue as an upcoming Goyard opening.
For that reason, treat 699 Madison Avenue as the brand’s announced future flagship rather than assuming it’s the current shopping address until Goyard officially updates its New York listing.
Can You Buy Goyard Online?
Yes, but this is an area where Goyard’s retail strategy has changed. The house was long famous for refusing conventional e-commerce, but Goyard now sells a selection of products through its official United States website. Its online store includes an “Available Online” section, online checkout, shipping, and returns for eligible non-personalized pieces.
Goyard also states that authentic new pieces are available through Goyard.com and its boutiques, and that third-party retail sales are not authorized. The History of Goyard
Goyard describes itself as the oldest Parisian trunkmaker, although the history is more precise than simply saying the company was founded under the Goyard name in 1792. Pierre-François Martin established Maison Martin in Paris in 1792 as a specialist in box-making, trunk-making, and packing. The business later passed to Maison Morel before François Goyard assumed control in 1853 and gave the house the name it still carries.
François Goyard’s son Edmond took over in 1885 and expanded the company internationally. Goyard’s own history records that Edmond opened trade offices in New York and London as the house developed an international clientele.
That expansion coincided with the great age of transatlantic travel, when wealthy Americans crossed the Atlantic with elaborate wardrobes and custom trunks. Some Goyard products can now be purchased online. The old rule that Goyard never sells online is no longer accurate. Availability varies, however, and an in-person boutique visit still provides access to the broader Goyard retail experience.
Marquage remains one of the house’s signature services. Goyard’s personalization tradition includes hand-painted initials, stripes, and other motifs. The company says these markings are executed by hand using colors based on natural pigments.
Goyardine comes in a broad range of colors. Under Jean-Michel Signoles, the historic black Goyardine canvas was expanded into numerous permanent colors, with additional limited-edition shades appearing periodically.
