Our History And Review Of Plattsburgh, New York’s Most Popular Hotels, presents a list of hotels that represent the best places to stay in Plattsburgh for either short or extended stays. This is a very genuine hotel review because I have stayed at all of these hotels on this list multiple times. The most critical factors in putting this review article together came down to price, comfort, cleanliness, friendliness, location, and the quality of their breakfast. These are not the only hotels in Plattsburgh; they are just the ones I’ve spent a lot of time at over the past couple of years. I have only included hotels that I have booked for stays. Here’s my list.
# 6 – Hampton Inn
The Hampton Inn is one of the most expensive hotels in Plattsburgh, if not the most expensive. Hotel prices go up and down based on availability all the time, so it’s not fair to say that one particular hotel is more expensive than others, but based on the past couple of years that I’ve spent a lot of time in Plattsburgh, this one is always the most expensive. This hotel usually costs 50 to $60 more than all the other hotels in the area. It’s a good hotel, it’s clean, it’s spacious and very professional. If it is priced the same as all the other hotels in the area, then it is a good place to stay; if not, I would not recommend paying so much more. If money is not that big of a deal and you are looking to stay in one of the best hotels in the area, this is one of the best places to stay.
The breakfast is decent, but the staff could be a little more friendly. Then again, it all comes down to who you catch on any particular day. I used to stay here because there was a UNO’s Pizza restaurant across the parking lot. However, that closed down a couple of years ago, just another sad result of the pandemic.
# 5 – Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Plattsburgh

I stayed here one time, and that was it. The reason was very simple. It was the worst breakfast I have ever had at a hotel. They do not have hot food. No eggs, no sausage, no bacon. All they have is a pancake machine. Of course, there are some cereals and some breads, but they have not invested in a nice breakfast, which is a big deal to me. The rooms were very modern and very bright. They are some of the cleanest and nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in in Plattsburgh. They are unique, and no other hotel rooms look like these. However, it’s not a place I would recommend because of the breakfast. If that doesn’t matter to you, then it’s a clean, modern hotel that is usually priced well. It’s located almost directly across from the Holiday Inn on Route 3.
#4 – Days Inn by Wyndham Plattsburgh

The Days Inn in Plattsburgh is usually the cheapest hotel you will find that is still of good quality. There are cheap motels in the area, but if you drive by them, you’ll keep driving. The Days Inn is a quality hotel for people on a low budget. I stayed here many, many times because of my budget. The breakfast is pretty good, the room is large, and there are many choices of food, from eggs, sausage bagels, muffins, cereals, and more. The coffee is very good, and the woman who runs the breakfast is friendly. It’s a clean Hotel, although the hallways sometimes smell bad, especially on the second floor. Some staff members are very friendly, and some are not. All in all, if you’re on a budget, this is the place to stay. There is also a Chick-fil-A, a Panera, and a Five Guys in the connecting parking lots.
The Days Inn was originally a Holiday Inn before it changed over under new ownership in recent years. The building was constructed in 1967.
# 3 – Comfort Inn & Suites Plattsburgh – Morrisonville

If you have kids, the Comfort Inn is the place to stay in Plattsburgh. Out of all the hotels in Plattsburgh, this is the most vacation-oriented Hotel in the area. There are multiple reasons for that. The hotel has a small amusement park built into it. There’s a huge game room. There is also a small water park attached to the hotel. Additionally, a large commercial gym on the second floor is open to all Hotel guests. The restaurant also hosts a bar and restaurant connected to Perkins’ breakfast and lunch restaurant. The Comfort Inn is also in the middle of a shopping mall with a Walmart, Buffalo Wild Wings, and at least a dozen other stores. One does not need a car to stay at the Comfort Inn; everything is reachable on foot. As far as location, the Comfort Inn wins that one.
Breakfast at the Comfort Inn is not that good. I always pay for breakfast at Perkins instead of the free breakfast with your hotel stay. The rooms are clean, the people are friendly and the prices are usually pretty good. You can’t go wrong staying at the Comfort Inn if you don’t mind the poor breakfast.
The 100,000-square-foot building that houses the Comfort Inn was built in 1998. However, ten years later, a fire did a great deal of damage to the building in 1998.
# 2 – Holiday Inn Express Plattsburgh
Even though we ranked Holiday Inn at number two on this list, it comes close to being number one. Out of all the hotels in Plattsburgh, the Holiday Inn was the cleanest. It also seems to be the most modern. It’s a relatively new hotel that opened a few years ago. The Holiday Inn originally was at the location of the Days Inn but took over the spot on Route 3 right off the Northway exit. Breakfast is essential to me, as you can see, and the Holiday Inn probably has the tastiest breakfast out of all the hotels. It’s right up there with the Best Western breakfast. The woman who runs the breakfast really cares about what she’s doing. It’s the only hotel breakfast that I have seen that, on some mornings, will have French Toast and biscuits and gravy. Hat off to her!
The only reason we ranked Best Western slightly above the Holiday Inn breakfast is simply because of the room size. The breakfast room at the Holiday Inn is tiny and can be uncomfortable. I always bring my breakfast back to my room because I don’t want to sit in that small, tiny room. The downside of the Holiday Inn is the location. Although it is right on Route 3, and if you have a car, which most people do, it’s no problem getting to anything. However, if you’re on foot, you can’t walk to anything over there because being on that busy road is dangerous. Hotels like the Best Western and the Comfort Inn have stores near them that you could walk to. The Holiday Inn does not have that. Still, it’s a great hotel, and the price can sometimes be lower than the Best Western and many other area hotels.
# 1 – Best Western

Best Western lands in the number one spot for multiple reasons. I have stayed in this hotel several times in different rooms. That is important because not all rooms are the same in any hotel. The Best Western is an older hotel in Plattsburgh. It’s also a hotel that seems to have made additions over the years. It’s one of those rare hotels with a bottom floor containing rooms with outdoor doors like a motel. What’s strange about it is that you can’t enter your room from the outside. You have to go down a hallway to enter the room, but you can exit the room from the inside to the outside if any of that makes sense.
Reason number one why we picked the Best Western is it has absolutely the best breakfast of all the hotels. The Holiday Inn comes very close. However, what we love about the Best Western breakfast is that it’s in a large room with many choices. Everything is always fresh, and it’s the only hotel in Plattsburgh that uses real silverware and plates. It also offers the most condiments for your eggs, like salsa and shredded cheese. No other hotel offers that.
The rooms at the Best Western are very clean. All the rooms I have stayed at had comfortable beds, TVs that worked, and nice lighting. The staff at the Best Western are also incredibly friendly and accommodating. The Best Western is off, as always, located right next to a mall. Attached to the Best Western is a restaurant called 99, which you can walk into from the hotel lobby itself. The Best Western also has a large indoor pool. In a 1970s-like fashion, many rooms have indoor decks that overlook the pool. It’s a lot of fun.
